There is no longer a need to walk in the shade or carry around a water sprinter or fan in order to keep cool. The OASIS® COOLbreeze cooling caps provide a natural way of achieving this for up to eight hours in even the hottest of temperatures. In addition, the technology behind the product is unique, safe and completely chemical free.
How they works:
The effectiveness of the OASIS® COOLbreeze cooling caps is a result of the technology behind the design, which allows evaporative cooling and, to a lesser extent, conductive cooling to take place.
They incorporate a revolutionary, patented, water-activated three-layer composite cooling fabric developed by Technical Absorbents - the absorbent solutions provider. This contains the unique and discreet fibre-entangled OASIS SAF NORAFIN NONWOVEN COOLING CORE, which is sandwiched between a quick drying, breathable outer-shell fabric, and a thermally conductive, wickable and water-repellent inner liner.

The core is a specially blended combination of super absorbent hydrophilic and hydrophobic fibres, that are evenly distributed in the form of a low profile, lightweight nonwoven wadding. Simply soaking it in water activates the cooling process. It then evenly absorbed, distributes and holds an optimal amount without dripping or becoming saturated or soggy. The hydrophobic fibres create the ideal environment for evaporation.
The outer-shell fabric promotes fast drying and moisture transfer and the inner, thermally-conductive liner promotes the escape of body heat. It does this by exchanging the heat for soothing, cooling comfort, while acting as a membrane to retain the moisture inside the core and stop the lining from feeling damp or wet.
Evaporative cooling:

This is the principle thermoregulatory cooling process provided by the caps and works like perspiration. As water evaporates from a surface, heat is absorbed in order to change the liquid to vapour. Due to the heat of water vaporisation, evaporation from a liquid surface is an extremely effective natural cooling mechanism.
Once the caps are activated, heat passes directly from the head through to the inner lining and into the core. This is driven by the difference in temperature between the body and the cooling cap.
The combination of fibres in the core ensures a slow, controlled release of moisture over a period of time. The heat is carried with it resulting in hours of cooling comfort. This form of evaporation is so effective, it is estimated that evaporating 1g of water dissipates seven-times as much heat as melting the same quantity of ice.
Conductive cooling:
This occurs when the heat passes directly from the body to the water-activated core, acting as a sink or thermal radiator. Again, this is driven by the difference in temperature between the body and the cooling cap. This mechanism delivers less cooling and doesn't last as long.
Benefits of the OASIS® COOLbreeze cooling caps:
Despite the fact that the head makes up on only 10% of body's surface area, wearing one of these caps can provide immediate heat-stress relief, decrease thermal strain and improve thermal comfort. It may also help reduce the amount of sweating, fatigue, and even stress to the heart and cardiovascular system that is often caused as the body tries to cool itself.
The caps can be dried and recharged with water in order to use them time and time again, are available in a variety of colours and can be supplied with or without a logo of choice. The OASIS SAF® coolant fabric can be used to provide a coolant effect in a wide range of clothing and personnel protective wear. |
